Book Review

As my 50th book read this year, I read George Orwell's 1984.

The book tells the story of Winston Smith as it relates to his place in Oceania. Oceania has three slogans by which it controls it's population.

War is Peace
Freedom is Slavery
Ignorance is Strength

The story speaks of it's political time and how there are those willing to go against the status quo. But it advices that the damage to the heart/mind may be break the sanity of the individual.

This is a sad testament to destruction of individual thinking. It is a great reminder and corollary to our past and present.
